“project location changing request letter – regarding the preschool of TCR at Tangalle”.

 According to the present situation at Tangalle, we (TCR) have noted the need of changing our preschool location from urban region to sub urban region, where the children are in desperate need of free preschool service other than to Tangalle.

 One reason to take this measure is the less admittance in our Tangalle preschool for 2010 and a request letter from near village preschool teacher asking for financial support in order to operate the village preschool properly.

With that request, we personally went to the village and found out that their local donor agency has stopped the teacher’s payment for year 2010 onwards. Then the teachers were helpless and had no way to commence the preschool for 2010. Then they have tried to get other donations and had made several requests. In the mean time they have had planned to charge 300 rs from each child monthly. But only 4 children were attending for New Year, but other 11 children left alone without attending. With 04 children was it impossible for the teachers to operate the preschool.

When we checked the personal and family situation of the teachers, it was very much in need the survival of their jobs. And the village was mainly vegetable cultivators and had no fixed income. They all cultivate with rain water. Most families were in financial crisis to spend the day and provide education for their children.

Suddenly we call for a members meeting with preschool teachers and discussed what our next step to be, either to continue the present preschool with less children or to shift the project to most needy village, where more innocent and poor people are living and their existing preschool almost about to close, if some body did not help them financially.

From our 3 preschool teachers, Miss. Asha had already asked for her job termination as she gets married in March 2010 and need to live with her husband away from Tangalle. The teacher Dilsha was little depressed, but she too wanted to pay extra attention to her family and children, but she did not offer to travel to the next village. And she herself accepted the need of shifting the project to village than to Tangalle. But our teacher Rasika still willing to join with TCR and offered to travel little longer to join the village preschool. She mostly was happy to be able to work with village children.

With this finalization, we announced to the 05 remaining children of our preschool about our new decision of changing the location. Three of them agreed to bring their children to the village school, but other two did not agree because of the distance, but they will join the paying preschool at Tangalle.

  This village preschool is located in a large temple and has a permanent building with all needy facilities. Such as security, playing area, playing instruments, furniture, toilet, water and electricity. Then we discussed with the head monk of the temple and he was very pleased if we could arrange to operate this preschool on behalf of need children in the village.

Here is the Album of our preschool kid's Year End Concert in December 2008. They have performed at a nearby school hall in front of their parents and naighbors. That is where they showed up their talents and skills. Parents and teachers were very proud of their skills.

For the year 2008, we have 22 kids. This is the first day of their preschool life. There were more than 30 kids waiting to attend our preschool, but according to the space available, we cannot take more kids than 22.
