A DREAM SINCE TWO YEARS AND LOTS OF THINKING HAVE COME TO A REALITY TODAY
By mid of June, we have over 600 members regularly benifitting this project.
As the exam is closer, the home is full in many days. |
 |
 |
One of our guest Mr. Withanage, who is second in charge of Naval at Tangalle, cutting the ribbon for official opening of the project. |
Then he was proceeding to light the oil lamp as a ritual Sri Lankan Custom. |
 |
 |
Then every body was followed by the Buddhist Monks preaching to get blessed for the success of the project. |
Here all our students and participants were sitting and getting blessed by Monks. |
 |
 |
The monks then offered the sacred water to every one to share the blessing. |
Finally a white string was tied around the wrist of each person for the protections of many evils and unseen powers. |
 |
 |
Then it was time to light a hearth to boil coconut milk in a pot until it boils over and split out. That will mark the prosperous and abundance of every possible requests. |
Here is the seen of splitting the milk after boiling. Everybody is happy to see this moment as to that will make the future successful and prosperous. |
 |
 |
Then, it was time to treat the guests with sweets and Milk rice with Chili sambol. |

HOW YOU CAN HELP THIS PROJECT TO GIVE A BETTER SERVICE TO OUR STUDENTS AT TANGALLE? |
Update: June 2009
After six months completion, TCR has achieved its highest target in its library project by recording over six hundred students visiting the library regularly. Since the month June, there are over crowded students as it has only 6 weeks for their exam. There main concern is a place for them to work. As it was a big concern for us, we arranged them a place in our second youth hostel premises. But this home is about 700m away from the existing project. But some students still prefer going there rather going back home.
The reason why the students prefer visiting our library is the background suitable for them to work competitively. At home or at other boarding homes, they feel lazy or sleepy. But our library is compact and controlled by our supervisor. So the students have no chance of being lazy or strolling around. That they eventually made to work. This is the type of condition that the most students prefer and they regularly visit our library.
Some students travel over 50km daily to attend our library just because here they are made to work.
Update: February 2009
After two weeks of the project opening, many students are visiting the library for inquiries. As this is a unique project, the students have risks and questions on how this project is operating and if the service cost? Also many students inquired about the laboratory items as it was very critical service they wanted. But unfortunately we are not ready to provide laboratory service yet, as the financial situation does not meet the target to buy a set of lab items.
We have already checked the market and found out that cost over 300000 Rs. unless we do not find this money, we will not be able to provide this urgent service for the community.
So we kindly request you to join us to share this cost together. Please contact us and we will provide you more details in every side. We will be very pleased to hear from you and your interest on this unique service.
In the mean time, instead of buying the complete set of lab items, we will work to buy in partially to meet our basic needs first.
So you can even help in any amount to make this a reality.
Thank you.
Mahendra Andrahennadige,
Manager - Tangall Children Relay.
